Almora

Almora is a wonderful place to conveniently enjoy the
spectacular snowscape of the central Himalayas. Most of the days in Almora are
flawless. Almost everyday the tourist can see almost every peak. Almora allows
you to enjoy the mighty Himalayas together with ridge after ridge of hills.The
terraced fields, the stone slatted barrack-like village houses have so far put
up a valiant fight against the encroachments of urban expansion and unplanned
development.
Ranikhet is surrounded by a number of tourist spots. Chaubatia
is famous for its orchards; Tarikhet, around eight kilometers away, was once the
nerve center of the Freedom Movement against the British. Mahatma Gandhi also
lived here for sometime.
Bageshwar and Sitalakhet are other places of tourist
interest. Bageshwar is one of the main camping sites for the journey to Pindari
Glacier, which is situated at a height of 3,820 meters.Sitlakhet is the new
tourist resort on the Syahi Devi hill.Kafni Glacier is also close by(around
3,870 meters above sea level).

Dalhousie

Dalhousie is the gateway to ancient Chamba Hill
State.Dalhousie is in Chamba District of the Himachel Pradesh.The hill station
of Dalhousie is full of charm and holds lingering echoes It covers an area of
about 14 sq. km and is built on five hills - Kathlog, Potreyn, Tehra, Bakrota
and Balun.
Dalhousie has charming architecture, including beautiful churches.
Its location presents panoramic views of the plains - and like a long
silverline, the river Ravi twists and turns below Dalhousie.Dalhousie is built
by the British as per their own style as they wanted to establish a sanatorium
for Europeans on the outer slopes of the Dhauladhar range. The then Maharaja of
Chamba was offered handsome amout for this place.

Manali

Manali is an important hill station of northern India and

There)The nearest airport is Bhuntar, 52 km south of Manali. There are
flights to Delhi via Shimla. The closest narrow-gauge railhead is at
Jogindernagar, 135 km away. The closest broad-gauge railheads are Chandigarh
(310 km) and Ambala (355 km). By road, the distance from Delhi via Mandi is 585
km, and from Shimla the distance is 270 km.
Mussoorie

Mussoorie, Popularly known as the Queen of Hills, this
charming hill station, 34 kms from Dehradun is situated at an altitude of 2003
mts in the Garhwal hills. above sea-level. Mussoorie is one the beautiful hill

MUSSOORIE (Travel
Information)There are regular flights from Delhi to Doon Valley (Jolly
Grant). From the Jolly Grant airport, taxis and buses ply to Dehradun, from

Mussoorie is 290 km by road. Dehradun to Mussoorie is 35 km. There are direct

Kodaikanal

Kodai or Kodaikanal is on the southern crest of the Palani
hills, about 120 km from Madurai, at an altitude of 2100 mt. It is surrounded by
wooded slopes, waterfalls and precipitous rocky outcrops.
Kodaikanal Hills is
an idyllic getaway for regular tourists, trekker and honeymooners. Blessed with
nature's breath-taking beauty, the star-shaped lake dominates this sleepy
hill-station.
Situated on the southern tip of the upper Palani Hills (Western
Ghats) at an altitude of more than 6854 ft. Kodai is 120 km north-west of
Madurai; 510 km away from Chennai, 262 km from Coimbatore and 615 km from
Bangalore.

Mount Abu

Mount Abu is a picturesque hill-station which green oasis

legend.stands for the son of Himalayan, deriving its name from Arbuada,the

chasm.
Mount Abu is Rajasthan's only hill station. It is 187 km away from
Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
Mount Abu (How To Get There)By Rail:
There are direct trains to Abu Road Station (27 km away from Mount Abu) from
Delhi, Jodhpur and Agra. A fast train takes four hours between Ahmedabad in
Gujarat and Abu Road.
By Road: Regular buses connect Abu Road to Mount Abu.
The journey takes about an hour. Taxis and jeeps are also available to take you
to Mount Abu. Direct buses also connect Mount Abu with Udaipur and Ahmedabad.
Ooty

Nestled in the brilliant green hills of the Nilgiris, Ooty
or Udhagamandalam, is one of the favourite summer retreats of people in South
India.Orchards of peaches and plums, terraced tea plantations, and eucalyptus,
pine and wattle lining the landscape a typical hill station in many ways.
A
hill station with a landscape perpetually enveloped in mist, Ooty's beauty has a
timeless appeal.
Ooty is home to many Britishers who have fallen in love with
this hill station where they discovered a little bit of England. "…such
beautiful English rain, such delicious English mud" is how Lord Lytton-Viceroy
of India from 1876-1880 described Ooty to his wife! The British influence is
visible in the handrolled cigars, chocolate and cheese one enjoys here. You also
have the popular derby, and 'hunt' held annually.
GETTING
THERECoimbatore, 105 km from Ooty, is the nearest airport. Indian
Airlines has flight to Coimbatore from Bangalore, Cochin and Madras.
The
Blue Mountain Express to Ooty is from Mettupalayam (47 km). Mettupalayam can be
reached from Coimbatore by the Tea Garden Express.
Shimla

Shimla, the summer capital of the British India, is
situated at a height of 2,196 metres. While the British have left the echoes
linger on. today, its well developed facilities, easy accessibility and many
attractions make it one of India's most popular resorts. In the Himalyan lower
ranges, it is surrounded by pine, cedar, oak and rhododendron forests.
Shimla is located towards the southern parts of the north Indian state of
Himachal Pradesh. Now It is the state capital and is at a distance of 343 km
from Delhi, 260 km from Manali, and 119 km from Chandigarh. The temperature
range is not very high and the maximum temperature rarely crosses 25°C during
summers. Winters are cold due to the chilly winds from the upper Himalayas.
